Famous Women---C

 


Our famous C is :

Coco Chanel (1883-1971)



Quick facts:

A French fashion designer.

The only designer to be listed in the
Time 100 most influential people of
the 20th century.

In the post war era, she created clothes
for women that were less restrictive than
the clothing that women wore during the
war.They were simpler and more practical
than the long dresses that women were
wearing. She also created trousers and
suits for women.

Ms. Chanel is the founder and name-
sake of the Chanel brand.

Her fragrance Chanel No. 5 was created
in 1921, as  an "ultimate symbol of
luxurious simplicity."

The first to feature a designer's name.

Perfume "is the unseen, unforgettable,
ultimate accessory of fashion...that
heralds your arrival and departure,"
according to Chanel.
