T

T is for Teacher.

A person who teaches or instructs,
usually in a school setting. BUT
there are many others in our
children's lives who "teach."

So, at school we have :

Lead teachers--
Those responsible for all the fun 
stuff that goes along with being 
the lead.

Paras--
Those that work as closely with 
the students as the teachers, they 
also assist in the classroom with 
data collection, recess duty, rest-
room assistance and much more.
In our district, they are assigned 
to the Special Ed dept.

Aides--
They are usually in the general ed 
rooms assisting with the class 
activities, covering a class while 
the teacher is in a meeting and 
sometimes they get cafeteria duty 
too.

Speech, OT, PT, Music and Vision 
therapists--
These people are more specialized 
and focus on a specific need a
student may have.

Art. Library, Music and PE--
They are another group of specialized
group of teachers.

Classroom volunteers--
Under the guidance of the classroom
staff they assist where needed.

First and foremost are Parents--
Our children's first teacher.

Children don't come with handbooks
so we all do the best we can to provide
for our kids. 
Oh, let's not forget our
Grandparents--
They are some of THE BEST teachers
we could have.

A Great Read

Hello Everyone!
Hope you had a super 
weekend.


During Spring break I 
hit the library. As I was 
browsing the shelves, I 
ran into a book that I 
had been wanting to 
read since it debuted.

Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker
is the story about Elizabeth 
Keckley who was born into 
slavery. When she was older
she was able to buy her free-
dom and her son's.
Skilled with a needle and 
thread she created stunning 
dresses and gowns for the 
elite in Washington City or 
as we know DC.
Through her sewing, she 
became friends with Mrs.
Lincoln and as time went by 
they became devoted friends.
The story line covers many 
historical events in the Lincoln
family and Presidency.

If you enjoy Historical Fiction,
this is a MUST READ. Ms.
Chiaverini has done an
awesome job with this 
story, it is a well researched
novel. I found out more about
Mary Todd Lincoln than I ever
remember from history class.
Now I want to find out more 
about Elizabeth Keckley!

September is "National Library

Card Month." A library card is

the most important school

supply of all. When you go to

the library, what do check out?

Who are favorite authors that

you read? What do your kids get?

I enjoy seeing what new books are

out, then I move on to decor books,

cookbooks and of course my

favorite authors--Debbie Macomber,

Carly Phillips, Fern Michaels, Janet

Dailey---I could go on. :) Enjoy

I'm Sooooooooo Excited!!

The WAIT is almost OVER!

Tomorrow it comes out!

I read the book and could

hardly put it down. As I

got to the end I stayed up

into the wee hours to finish

this wonderful story.

Now I can't wait to see the

movie!!!!

A New Addition To My Collection

Happy Saturday to Everyone! Today I'd like to share with you my new cookbook! Now if you were to come to my kitchen or talk with Mr. Ken you would find that I need a new cookbook like I need a whole in my head! BUT...... Our school librarian does a Summer Reading program for the students and staff each summer, she sends home a chart with all of us that we can keep track of the books, magazines, newspapers AND cereal boxes that we read over the summer. I turned my chart in yesterday and then I got to choose a book! I looked through all the books on the cart and then I found this little gem stuck between two BIG books. This book is titled Blue Ribbon USA-Prizewinning Recipes From State And County Fairs. Each state is represented with a prize winning recipe. Each recipe page gives a little ditty about the prize winner, the recipe and shows posters from that fair. The winner of the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia was Sarah Keyte for Catfish Wraps. Her category was Wild Meat or Fish. (No date is listed for this contest) The winner for the Douglas County Fair in Lawerence, Kansas was a twelve year old young lady-Ashley Lesser. Her Grand Prize winning recipe was for Strawberry Daisy Bread. I'm looking forward to checking this little gem out more . I'll

let you know when I try any of the recipes out.

The authors also have two other books one is called Cooking

USA and the other is called Cookout USA they both look

like fun reads.
