Fun with Family--Part 2

Hello!
Today we return to our trip to Oklahoma
back in May. If you remember, we went
to downtown Oklahoma to a garden fest
then on our way home, we stopped at one
of their large lakes and watched wild and
crazy people skimming across the water.

This one left the water! No thanks!

Later in the day we went to downtown Edmond,
our goal for the stop here was PIE! It is called
the Railyard and boy oh boy do they have PIE!

Cute little area to fix your tea, get water etc.

Ta-Da!
Apple Crumble. YUM!

Then we went wandering around. This
sculpture holds locks. Visitors can
"lock their love" for each other here.

Awesome mural. Sister-in-law in the
foreground.

On the street corners were these wonderful
sculptures. Sorry for the double pic.

As you can see below, this one is called
"Storytime."

So fun to see what would be on the next corner.

Sunday was Mother's Day, so before we left
town, we picked up a hanging plant for my
Sister-in-law.  We kept it hid in the car but
with the help of my nephew and brother-
in-law I got it in the house and hid it in
our bathroom. Before we left, we gave
it to her. She was pretty surprised!

On the road home.

Then for Father's Day weekend the crew came
up here. Lunch at Dad's favorite BBQ restaurant.

Left to right: Dad, Dorothy (Dad's lady friend)
Cindy (sister-in-law) and Mr. Ken. Backrow:
Bradley (our nephew) and Gregg (brother-in
-law) I took the pic.

So good to see family!!

Thursday Thought

Do you find time to unplug?

Usually I read but that bug has
not bitten me this Summer for
some reason. I have a ton of
books on "my list" to read but
nope, hasn't happened. Plus I
have books on my shelf
but no interest. Weird???

What do you do to "unplug?"

Have a great evening!

Fun Times!

Last weekend the air show was in a
neighboring city.

The headline for the show was The
US Navy Blue Angels and The Air
Force Thunderbirds. We didn't really
want to be in the middle of everything
on the airport grounds so we decided
to find road near the airport to see if
we would get to see any of the planes.

After what seem like a loooong wait
in the heat finally we saw some trick
planes. Then we got to see the birds
and the angels! What a sight!! They
go sooo fast that you can't get pictures.
When they go above your head the
sound is LOUD!! Gave up trying to get
pics, happy I got what I have. A lot of
the time I was pointing and hoping I
was aiming at a plane.  :)

For just parking and hoping to see
something, we did pretty well.

Have a great weekend!

Old Glory

Good afternoon and Happy July!

Today let's chat about our flag.
Some call it "Old Glory."

The information below is from the
National Flag Foundation:

The current flag is the only one to
have lasted for more than 50 years

There have been 27 versions of the
American flag each with a different
amount of stars.

As we know there are:
50 stars representing each state
13 stripes representing the original
13 colonies that became the first
states in the Union.
History states that the colors of the
flag represent:
RED--hardiness and valor
WHITE--purity and innocence
BLUE--vigilance, perseverance and
justice

The flag always flies at the top of a
staff above any other staff.

After a tragedy the flag is flown at
"half staff" on land and "half mast"
on a ship. This occurs for 30 days of
mourning.

We have all been to a funeral at one
time in our lives and I am sure you
have noticed that if there is a flag,
it is folded a specific way.
Correct?
Military.com gives a great explanation
of  the Meaning Behind the 13 Folds of
the Flag. Most of this I did not know.

There is so much more that can be
posted on Old Glory, so if you are
interested ask your friend GOOGLE
for assistance.

One way or the other my flags WILL
get outside-hopefully the rain is
FINISHED!!
