Finished!

Back in October--yes, October I bought all of this stuff in order to make a wreath for our teeny tiny room which we call "the sitting room." It is lavender and I thought this garland and baubles would make a great wreath for the door. I think all total I spent under $5.00 for the garland (2 strands), baubles (2 sets), and a metal hoop plus a coupon. It took a bit, but I got it done and then the holidays came and went and the wreath hung out in the sewing room.
Spring break arrived and I
finally got back to it! I found
some sheer lavender ribbon
in my stash for a bow and a
hanger. Got the bow glued on
but not I need to hang it on
the door. Right now it is
laying on the daybed that we
have in the teeny tiny room.
So, with National Crafting Month ending tomorrow - I
can at least say that the wreath
is complete! I am still working
on the baby blankets. They will
be finished soon.
What have you been crafting this
month??
Enjoy your weekend! We will be
having summer where the weather
is concerned. Too early for me!!!!

Storms vs Sun

This morning we had a small
percentage of rain.
I took these beautiful pics with
my phone as I left our neighbor-
hood to go to work.
I'm sure I irritated my fellow
drivers but I could not resist
not taking these.
One minute it was cloudy and
sprinkling and then the sun
would peek out, the next
minute it was cloudy again.
The first four were taken in
the neighborhood and the
last one was taken on a busier
street, just as the light had
turned green.
Weather is soooooo interesting!

Spring Fling 4

image: Google
Well, folks here it is
my "review" of The
Lorax.
As you know: this is an
adaptation of the Dr.
Seuss story. It is about
Ted and a forest creature
who shares a message of
hope.
Ted lives in a plastic town
with his Mom and his
Grammy and wants to
change the way things
are. Ted also has a crush
on Audrey and sets out
on an adventure to win
her affection and make the
changes he wants.
CAST:
Danny DeVito-Lorax
Betty White-Grammy
Zac Efron-Ted
Taylor Swift-Audrey
Ed Helms-Once-ler
Rating:
PG for brief mild language
(which I must have missed)
Movie Length:
1 hr 35 min.
We both enjoyed this story
and would recommend it--
Especially if you are looking
for something fun and light.
No heavy duty thinking
needed!

Spring Fling Part 3

image: Google We are jumping to tomorrow first--We are going to see "The Lorax" for our movie date. Nothing overly serious for us! We are going to enjoy ourselves!
image:Google
This will be included too!
Nothing like movie popcorn
for lunch! How fun will this
be??? :) :)
Mr. Ken took today and
tomorrow off. We goofed
off most of the day but did
get the deck cleaned off.
There were some renagde
leaves, dust and tree
stuff to sweep up. While
the Mr. took a nap in the
afternoon I cut out fabric
squares for a baby blanket
I am making for one of the
teachers at school. (Show
and Tell) at a later date.
Now I just have to put it
together and start on the
other one I am making for
one of my former parents.
I also drove myself nuts
trying to keep up with my
NCAA bracket!
Tomorrow will be slower
BUT I will be watching my
Tigers at 3:40 ct!!!!
Break sure has gone fast!

Spring Fling Part 2

Spring break is flying here.
Things are getting done and
the house is being aired out.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
We have had spectacular
weather so it has been nice
to have the windows up and
the doors open.
Today I worked in the sewing
room, finding surfaces and
getting rid of things I no
longer use. I have also done
some mending. Hoping to
finish in there tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow,
Mr. Ken will be home and
Friday too! We have a movie
date scheduled for Friday.
Probably a matinee. Yea!
Looking to get outside and
work in the yard also.
It will be nice to have him
home for a few days.
NCAA tourney begins
tomorrow--will be watching
my Tigers on Friday too.
Bring on the B-ball!!!
Enjoy YOUR break if you
have one. See you soon.

Spring Fling

Monday and Tuesday fun: It is SPRING BREAK week! Things are a changing with the upcoming season! Out with the red place mats and in the the spring green ones. Some green and white candles that replace the large pink one that was there. (Forgot a pic) Mr. squirrel thinks the flowerpot that I "borrowed" has food in it for him-in reality it has bird food in it. He seems to be enjoying himself don't you think?
Things are beginning to
bloom. I love it when the
little yellow flowers pop
out. You know Spring is
on the way.
A festive flag for the outside.
Some goodies purchased with
"free money." Walgreen's
discontinued their rewards
card in January. I cashed my
bonus points in and got a little
free money to play with. A gum
stash, nail polish-Wet and Wild
"Through the Grapevine" and
pretty notepads.
On another note-Last Saturday,
I went to one of my fave stores-
Fabric Recycles. A lovely woman
Paige owns this store, the concept
is recycle and reuse fabric, ribbons,
yarn, patterns, buttons, craft tools,
sewing machines and on and on.
Paige will offer a cash or in store
credit offer to those who brings
items into her store.
It is fun store because the inventory
changes regularly.
Back to Saturday--patterns were
.75 a piece! What a variety--I went
looking for "vintage patterns"
to frame for the sewing room but
ended up buying ones that I
could use for specific things in
each and at .75 how could I
lose?
This is what I purchased:
4 patterns at .75. They are
in the white envelopes.
1 cross stitch pattern.
1 apron pattern
1 skein of yarn-I AM
going to learn how to
crochet one way or
the other!
That's what I have been
up to on my Spring Break.

The Mizzouri Tigers are
The Big 12 Conference
CHAMPS! Yea! WooHoo!
They beat the Baylor Bears
90-75. A hard fought win
but a win it was.
Now on to THE BIG DANCE!
I love me some TIGERS. :)

What a Difference a Year Makes

Mr. Ken is celebrating TODAY!
It has been 1 YEAR today that he
started his new job! Last March
he drove downtown thinking that
he was going to be fulling out
paperwork for the job and THEN
after filling out all of his papers,
they put him to work right there
right on the spot!
Ken is a very detail oriented guy
and takes pride in his work. These
characteristics have paid off many,
many times over the last year.
He has received sooooo many
compliments from those that he
has assisted.
Nine months into the job he was
promoted! EXCITING!!! (Couldn't
find a post on this, thought I had
said something) Not everyone gets
promoted that fast. I am very proud
of Mr. Ken as you know and we are
seeing some light at the end of a this
long 3 year tunnel we have been
living.
I know a lot of people are struggling
with job loss and I pray that things
change for you soon. This has been
one of THE hardest things we have
had to endure but life goes on and
we just keeping pushing right along.
Congratulations to you Ken! You
are GREAT!

Doesn't Look a Day Over...

Guess who turned 100 today? Yes, you are correct it is the Oreo! They debut in 1912 and have sold over 362 million. This makes them one of the best selling cookies of the 20th century. New varieties have been introduced over the years: **1975--Double Stuf were introduced. **1987--Fudge Covered Oreos were introduced. **1991--Halloween Oreos were introduced. **1995--Christmas Oreos were introduced. I'll bet that the Spring Oreos will be or are already in the stores. Are you an Oreo fan? Are you a dipper, a popper or one who pops them open and licks the creme filling out of the center? I am a fan of the Vanilla Oreo with creme filling as opposed to the Chocolate ones. ~Keep on Dreaming~

Let's Get Crafting!

March is National Craft
Month. In the spirit of
crafting, I thought I
would show you some
bracelets that I have made.
The red one and the pearl
one were made last summer
and the purple one was made
to go with my outfit that I wore
to my high school reunion last
year.
You will need Memory Wire,
needle nose pliers, beads and
charms (optional).
The wire coils and uncoils-
hence the name Memory
Wire but I used "markers"
to help keep the wire from
coiling into inself, they
helped keep the wire
seperated while putting the
beads on.
I decided how many coils I
wanted for each bracelet
and snipped the wire. You will
see that the red one has more
coils than the purple one. The
pearl one is in between both of
them.
Begin by making a small loop at
one end of the wire-you can add
a charm here if you want. The
loop keeps the beads on the wire.
Then begin putting your beads on.
You can make a pattern or just
put them on randomly. When
you get to the end make another
loop, add a charm and you are
finished.
***Make sure that your loops are
fully closed so that your charms
and beads DON'T fall off.
Enjoy! These bracelets are great
for those of us who like to wear
multiple bracelets at one time.
they also make super gifts!!!!
Let me know what you are crafting!
