25th Annual Lenexa Spinach Festival located in the beautiful
Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park. It was a beautiful day to wander the
park looking at crafts and antiques plus we enjoyed the
food at the food booths. The Spinach Festival celebrates
Lenexa's earliest claim to fame as the "Spinach Capitol of
World" during the 1930's. Belgian farmers grew spinach
and the shipped it out by rail. The festival rolls all of the
history into one big festival sporting "the world's largest
spinach salad, spinach dip, pizza, wraps and balls plus a
variety of other food for festival goers pleasure.
pole fishing at the "waterering hole." Wonder if they caught
any??
tent full of antiques!
ween booth" it also has some Christmas stuff too. It is VERY
hard to make decisions in this delightful place! Can you see
the "pig-tailed pumpkin" on the black table--it's really a
halloween cat complete with a tail. She'a adorable.
NOW--the mystery of the day. Is this man's hair real ?
We had a great time and are looking forward to next year!!
~Keep on Dreaming~
Oh how I love the craft fairs! Our fall ones are just starting around here...next weekend there's a big one located in an historic village...lots of fun! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome. I love festivals with crafts, food and fun. Glad you had a good time!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great time. Popeye and his concubine Olive are too funny! I love spinach personally I will eat it raw, cooked or dirty right out of the patch but I can find no one who shares my passion. Hubby hates it and my children who would eat anything that wouldn't move or grunt on their plate would starve if spinach was in sight. No wonder I'm anemic....Have a great day....I'm gonna!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to browse the little booths while tasting all the wonderful treats!. If I lived by you I would have joined in all the fun.
ReplyDeleteI think the guy is wearing a funny hair-hat. A friend of mine has one and its a kick in the pants, we had to do a double take the first time he wore it. LOL
Take care and enjoy your day,
Elizabeth
Looks like I would like the pumpkin booth too. Glad you had a fun weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Melinda!
ReplyDeleteHow funny, I thought about emailing you to see if you wanted to meet at the Spinach Festival! I would have loved to have met you and Nancy.
I didn't end up attending this year b/c Chris was on duty and the thought of managing parking along with 2 little ones was disheartening! LOL BUT, if you did see a handsome Lenexa Fire Fighter roaming the grounds, it was my hubby! He kept snapping pictures of the booths and emailing them to me from his phone to entice me to come up! Ha!!!
Talk to you soon,
Val
