I--Indigo Dyeing
Indigo dye is an organic compound with
a distinct blue (Indigo) color.
Indigo is a natural dye that was extracted
from the leaves of certain plants. Back in
the day this was helpful economically
because blue dye was once rare. Today the
dye is produced synthetically.
This is the blue that is associated with
denim and blue jeans. It takes 3-12 gallons
for a pair of jeans.
I have seen several articles on Indigo dyeing
using fabric, yarn, pillow cases etc.
As with any dyeing, read instructions so you
don't end up with blue dye all over you.
J is up tomorrow. See ya!
