A Christmas Yummy

As Christmas Tree week
ends, Sunday Savor has
a fun recipe for you, so
pull up a chair and relax.

When I was a little girl,
my Mom always made a
Christmas tree cake for
me. Somewhat similiar
to the picture above. In
order to bake this cake
we HAD to have an
aluminium cake pan just
like the one below.

Christmas Tree Cake

1 box of  cake mix
(flavor of your choice)
1 tub vanilla frosting
(or make your own)
Green food coloring
Red and Green M&M's

Follow the baking directions
for the cake, pour into your
pan and bake.
Let cook on a wire rack.
While the cake is baking,
tint your frosting with the
food coloring. A lot will give
you a bright green tree and
a little will give you a lighter tree. As most of you know,
start out with a few drops
and add if needed.
Frost the cake in the pan
when cool. Mom never took
the cake out to frost.
You can if you want though.
She then "put the lights" on . (M&M's)

That's it my friends, easy
peasy. Also makes trans-
porting simple too.

This post is in honor of
my Mom. She has been
gone from us for 6 years
today.
Thanks Mom for making
Christmas time FUN!!!

  1. My daughter and daughter-in-law are big into making cakes like this. I wonder if it's a generational thing. My mother was, too. I remember her doll cake birthday cakes. But it seemed to have skipped a generation with me.
