Where in Kansas is...?
Please excuse my tardiness--
Saturday's are busy here.
Well we have clicked our heels
and we are back in Kansas for E
as in Emporia, Kansas. Check
the map above for location.
The name Emporia comes from
ancient Cathaginian Africa (a
suburb of Tunis, Tunisia--center
of the Carthaginian
Empire.
It is the principal city of the
Emporia Micropolitan Statistical
Area. ie: consisting of two counties
in one city-Emporia.
The first Veteran's Day was held
here in 1953.
The city newspaper-The Emporia
Gazette is well known due to being
publised in the first half of the
century by William Allen White.
The Gazette became a model of
excellence in small town journal-
ism.
Emporia is home to Emporia State
University and Flint Hills Technical
College.
There are 13 sites in Emporia that
are listed on the National Register
of Historic Places. Three of them
would be: The William Allen White
House, ESU Teachers' College and
The National Teacher's Hall of Fame.
On the campus of ESU, one can
find an authentic one room school
house.
Enjoy your evening and Sunday
but come on back Monday for F.

He, he, you are funny. Good luck with your Blogger issue. Emporia sounds interesting. I did a quick Google image search and saw the Dobbs school. If that's the one you mentioned, it was very lovely. Have a nice Sunday! Twyla

Funny! I've been to most of the states, but KS isn't one of them and that will have to change. Good blogger luck!
