Memories of Christmas' Past

As I was reading blogs this afternoon, I stopped
at Blushing Rose by: Marydon. She got me to
thinking about Christmas' past. Marydon asked
what kind of Chrismas mischief did her readers
get into as children.
I told a story that I remembered from my child-
hood:
One year I wanted a specific doll, I couldn't
wait until Christmas so I devised the idea
that sometime when Mom was in the bathroom
I would climb behind our tree and check out this
one present that I just knew held the doll I
had been wanting. The opportunity came and
I did climb behind the tree, open the top of the
present and peek inside. To my wandering eyes
THE DOLL was in the box!!!! Well, I heard a
certain noise from the bathroom which meant
I needed to get the paper back on the box and
GET OUT from behind the tree. Mom was none
the wiser and i don't know if I ever told her
about this.
Another story:
When I was five, I was in my Mom's bathroom
and I just happened to spy my presents under
my Mom's bed due to the bed hadn't been made
yet. I pointed out to her that i could see the
presents. Needless to say, she had to find a
new hiding place for the presents.
Now my question to you is "What kind of
Christmas mischief did you get into as
a child?"

  1. You'd have to ask what kind of Christmas mischief I've gotten into as an adult. One was a Christmas my daughter opened a necklace set my parents sent and wrapped it back up. She was so smug about broadcasting she knew what was in the package. It was obvious the little doll had been in it. I took out the gift and stuffed the box full of plastic fishin' worms. Christmas morn' my babe picks up the box singing,"I know what's in this box." Opening the box the worms sprung out everwhere, she was screaming hysterically enough to wake the dead and mom? I was laughing so hard I couldn't see straight. To this day I don't think the kid ever snooped again. I was an obedient child....adult...not so much! A girl just has to have fun.

Have a restful evening filled with sweet dreams.

  2. I can't say I remember getting into mischief, at least not for Christmas! Love your stories.

  3. I never did any mischief as a child. I was an angel! Seriously. I do have wonderful memories surrounding Christmas though! I remember coming down the stairs when I was about 6 years old and seeing a new bike, a wood baby cradle that my Dad had made by hand, and a new doll sitting in a stroller. I was in heaven!

  4. Great post! I remember once as a child I found a gift that was labelled for me. I carefully unwrapped it, looked at it, then wrapped it back up thinking that I got away with peeking. Little did I know that I forgot to add the hard cardboard wrapper that went around the gift and my Mom found it on the floor. I was caught! I never peeked again after that! :D
