To quote another song:
"Baby, it's cold outside!"
Speaking of songs, with all the different Christmas songs
available why does the radio play the SAME ones over
and over and over? I just can't figure that one out.
Anyway---WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS
SONG, CAROL OR HYMN?
Some of mine are:
"Mary Did You Know?"
"Sleigh Ride"
"Silent Night"
"Jingle Bells"
"White Christmas"
Just to name a few. Have a song filled day!!!
~Keep on Dreaming~
I really enjoy all that you have listed and I will add
ReplyDeleteaway in a manger
do you hear what I hear
little drummer boy
and
we wish you a merry christmas
Funny, I was singing Mary Did You Know as I popped over to your blog. Your list could be mine and it too goes on 'cause I've got the music in me. Hubby's fav is the Little Drummer Boy, he always turns the sound up on it like he's deaf and has to feel the vibrations.
ReplyDeleteYou have yourself one terrific day, I hope your gettin' sun today! God bless :o)
I love "Mary did you know?" -- it's on my iPod! :)
ReplyDeleteI love "Ring Christmas Bells" and "O Holy Night" too.
Another vote for Mary Did You Know -- and I haven't heard it this year:( But, Baby, have I heard Baby It's Cold Outside. They play it all the time!
ReplyDeleteI love Mary's Boy Child (?)
O Holy Night
anything by Nat King Cole
I will add to your list my ultimate favorite....
ReplyDeleteMary's Boy Child

ReplyDeleteLove the looks of that snow! You have to remember we don't see it very often at all. My favorite would be Silent Night. One of these days I will have a computer again. Jackie
ReplyDeleteThere are thousands of wonderful Christmas songs -- holy and secular both. But you won't hear most of them on the radio. There's a simple reason: convenience, meaning $$$ savings, for the radio stations.
ReplyDeleteIn the "olden" days, radio stations had programmers who would choose the music to be played. Nowadays, nearly all radio stations, large or small, purchase packages of music, pre-selected and targeted to their desired demographics. It is cheaper than programming from "scratch," but it makes for depressingly similar programming right across the country -- it's a safe choice for the station, but deadly dull.
As a former radio broadcaster, boy do I miss the old days, when Radio was fun!

Anything by the crooners.....like "Baby its cold outside".
ReplyDeleteMary Did You Know & White Christmas ... but can't get enough of any Christmas music, actually. Love the snow filled wagon ...

Hi Melinda. I agree! "Mary Did You Know" is one of my favorites, too. It gets me teary-eyed every time I hear it (which is quite often since I own the CD by Kathy Mattea!).
ReplyDeleteAs a kid, we listened to the Johnny Mathis Christmas album every single year. That brings back a lifetime of memories for me. :)
