Going To Kansas City
B--
Our next stop on our tour is
Bartel Hall --it is also called
the Convention Center but
we ARE on the B's right?
Bartle Hall is a large
facility downtown that
holds conventions, concerts,
business meetings ect.
This year it will be the home
for the All Star Fan Fest.
Bartle Hall has made it's
home downtown since 1994.
Kansas Citians LOVE their
BBQ! We have over 100
restaurants serving all
kinds of yummy stuff.
In the early 1900's a
man by the name of
Henry Peery opened a
BBQ restaurant out of a
trolley barn. He sold a slab
of ribs wrapped in newspaper
for . 25 each!!! Those were the
days.
Of the 100 or so BBQ joints in
town, each serves a variety of
flavors and styles but most use
the slow-smoked method of
cooking. Our sauces are tomato
based ranging from sweet to spicy
to tangy.
Kansas City plays host to The
American Royal BBQ contest
each year. Thousands come to
our fair city each year to compete
and taste THE BEST BBQ ! My fair
city hosts The Great Lenexa BBQ
contest each June, last weekend as
a matter of fact. It stinks up the
town pretty good!!!
Okay, now I have made myself
hungry!
C--
Now we are off to THE
City Market. For more
than 150 years the market
has offered an eclectic mix
of dining, shopping, fun and
attractions in an open air
setting and open daily.
This a popular spot in the
summer when all the locals
bring their goodies to the
market . Most come down to
the market for that reason but
there are a lot of great places
to dine in the evenings and
weekends.
Just recently a lot of the old
buildings in the area have been
restored to lofts and more
are living in that part of down-
town now.
Are you ready for some
retail therapy? Let's go to
Crown Center Shops.
Home to the Crayola Cafe,
A Streetcar Named Desire
Restaurant, two theatres,
a movie theatre and Hall-
mark Cards store. Plus
many more shops, cafes
and restaurants. Enjoy!
Our Pro Football Team.
KC Wolf-one of our mascots.
Warpaint is our other one.
When we get a touchdown
Warpaint is ridden around
the stadium.
The Kansas City Chiefs--here
at training camp last year.
They came to town as the
Dallas Texans in 1962-the
name changed soon after
arrival. Our first season was
in 1963.
