How many of us had paper dolls?
I loved them as a little girl and
I still have some today though
I don't play with them. My Mom
subscribed to McCall's
magazine and I couldn't wait for
each month's new magazine.
In this particular installment
Betsy appears with her cousin
Barbara McCall.
Betsy McCall appeared as a paper
doll in May 1951, she was said to
be "five going on six, living in a
white house with a porch and a
yard to play in." In Betsy's debut,
"Nosy" her six month old
Dachshund is seen with her.
So fun!
Do you remember Betsy?
~Keep on Dreaming~
I can't say I remember Betsy, but oh I LOVED paperdolls! My cousin and I used to play with ours for hours at a time. Just cutting them out was fun, snipping away and chatting with one another. Calming, peaceful, quietly at play.
ReplyDeleteThey were a way to pass the time.
DeleteThough the cutting out part drove
me nuts though.

I do not remember those in particular, but I also loved paper dolls!!! When my daughters were little, I found paper doll fabric, what fun we had with that.

Oh, yes! I remember Betsy, haven't thought about her in many years! Loved her though and that Mom had a McCall's subscription too, something to look forward to each month, Betsy!
ReplyDeleteThose were the days, waiting for Mom to
Deletefinish the magazine so I could tear out the Betsy McCall pg.

I don't remember Betsy, but I loved playing with paperdolls. I remember one summer my friends and I created wardrobes for our paperdolls from the comics, wrapping paper, etc. Great memories1
ReplyDeleteVery creative! Plus fun.

I don't recall Betsy but loved paper dolls, many of mine were of movie stars like Cyd Charisse.
ReplyDeleteThose sound like fun.

I remember Betsy and a whole lot of other paper dolls. It was one of my favorite ways to spend time.
