I have been pondering
a few things regarding
blogging.
Yes, some of this may
be obvious but I wanted
to see what you are seeing
in blogland.
Has blogging changed recently?
Have your comments dropped off?
How do you feel about Followers?
Are you on Pinterest?
What are your frustrations
in regarding blogging?
~Keep on Dreaming~
I do love pinterest....so much out there. Blogging is MY space though...my friends are wonderful and I now even feel like I've known each of them for a very long time. I once worried about followers and comments, but that is a thing of the past for me. I know that I have a lot of readers....they may not leave a comment, but for me...it's ok. What I enjoy most is being able to share needs, pray for one another, and support each other through whatever a day might bring. Hope your day is full of sunshine and sweet happiness...

We all blog for different reasons. I've got a lot of followers, but yet most of my readers, I suspect, are the random ones that find me via a web search for something else, such as a book review. They read the review, and then probably never visit again.
ReplyDeleteI don't get a lot of comments because I don't go out and do a lot of commenting. I also seldom answer comments because that, too, means I'm spending a lot of time on my blog. I don't blog to blog, but as a placeholder for the day when I'm a published author (if that day ever comes), and the blog will be in connection to my website.
There are only a handful of blogs that I read and comment on, all the time. (Yours is one!)
I look at followers as only that that person and I have made a connection, and like each other's blog, but it doesn't mean we're reading each other's blogs all the time. Maybe almost never.
Blogging takes a lot of time. (A frustration.) But you do end up with something very nice for all of your work. If all you wanted to do was talk to someone, you could facebook or twitter.
Pinterest? I don't have time for that.
I guess the most interesting thing I've discovered about my blog stats (which I get through StatCounter) is that very frequently, someone discovers my blog, and instead of looking at a post or two, they end up looking at anywhere from 40-80 of them. Those people are frequently from all over the world. So, I guess they're finding an interesting American blog, reading it, and then ... probably ... never coming back. And that's okay with me.
In so many ways, I don't want the burden of having many, many people expecting me to supply them with a constant stream of new and interesting things to read.
Thus, my blog's become more personal over the past months, and I suspect, less interesting. If people want to learn about writing techniques, I'm not their teacher. They can go elsewhere, to many fabulous blogs for that.
I'd love to hear your answers to these questions, Melinda.
I have been enjoying FB, believe it or not. It is an easier venue to communicate with & have a quick one-on-one connection with friends ... it isn't that easy with blogging. My followers are loyal, but my interest in blogging has waned. I am still doing it here & there. I have no interest in Pinterest whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful day, M.

I'm like Shug in that I feel like some bloggers are my friends now and I'd love to meet them sometime. I've had my blog for 3 and a half years and still enjoy it. The other stuff is good too, but then I'm retired and have the time now and definitely didn't do any of it when I still worked.
ReplyDeleteTrying to figure out what to blog and how to get people to comment. I guess I am just too busy too right now to put a lot of time into it. Love to have time to visit blogger friends though. Have a great weekend :) Oh yes I am on Pinterest too.
ReplyDeleteHi Melinda! One of my biggest frustrations now is what to blog about. Now that I'm retired, it seems my life has slowed down a lot and I'm afraid my posts have become boring. I enjoy reading blogs and leaving a comment ever now and then. Things have changed in blogland.
ReplyDeleteThanks Melinda and the gals!!! I sure felt your prayers and they were most appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI flew in last night after ten days at the hospital in Brownsville and am worn by many battles.
Mom is very frail. 88 lbs, she's out of isolation, bed sore went from stage three to a two but she has no appetite. I've ordered her an appetite stimulant and some probiotics. Day 53 in the hospital but it's tough being torn in so many directions. Hubs meds were doubled...'we'll see.
It was a very tough trip that I'll probably have to make again soon.
Soooooo appreciate the prayers and ya'll.
Bloggin'....miss it baaaaaad!
God bless and have yourself one fantastic weekend!!! :o)
