LION or LAMB

Proverb:

...if March comes in like a lion, it will
go out like a lamb.
Lends to the ferocity or gentleness
of the weather.

This phrase can be traced backed to
the U.S. settlers, who relied on weather
observation to forecast the weather.
Usually the month begins--cold,windy
and wet--lion's roar. Usually (often)
ends  warm, quiet and spring
like--like a lamb.

Some have traced the phrase back to
ancient times and those who watched
the stars.
March begins as the Constellation
Leo is crossing toward the meridan.
Leo the Lion. As Leo marches away,
the Constellation Aries begins to rise
toward the end of the month. Aries
is the Ram. What many lambs become.

Our month came in like a lion with a
ton of snow on the ground and a
second snowstorm behind us.

How did March arrive in your neck of
the woods?

What did ya think of all that trivia??

  7. March actually arrived like a lamb around here. Now I'm not saying that it won't turn into a lion without a moment's notice. March is so unpredictable!
