We are going to investigate
Winter Weather Trivia
today.
I'm sure most of
you are asking "WHY?"
Well, because this stuff
is interesting and I am
one of THOSE "Winter
lovers."
**Water spontaneously
freezes at -40 degrees F.
If you were to pour a cup
of water out the window
it would freeze before
hitting the ground.
**A car radiator is NOT
effected by Wind Chill.
But people and animals
are--especially exposed
skin.
**The difference between:
HAIL--A chunk or stone of
ice dropped from a thunder-
storm.
SLEET--Frozen Rain.
FREEZING RAIN--Rain that
freezes to surface--ie: tree
or road.
**TRUE or FALSE??
It must be 32 deg. or colder
to snow.
FALSE--It has snowed before
at 40 deg. due to temps. in the
clouds being below 32 deg.
where the snow is forming.
equal to 10 inches of
snow!!!!! When melted.
**It CAN snow from
clear skies due to ice
crystals falling from
clear skies when temps.
are in the single digits.
**One inch of ICE is
more dangerous to
trees and power lines
one inch of wet snow.
***********************
Now see that wasn't so
bad was it? Betcha you
learned at least ONE
thing. I know I did.
Now you have party
chatter that you can use
at the next party--when/if
things get dull. :)
~Keep on Dreaming~
You killin' me here girl. Just rub winter in my face would'ya? Heeehehehe!!!
ReplyDeleteYep, ya taught this old dog a new trick. I did not know that water would freeze spontaneously at -40. How cool would that be but ya probably won't find this chick findin' out if it's true!!!!
God bless and have a warm fuzzy kinda day sweeite!!!
That whole post made me cold! I will trick my husband with these facts tonight. He's always telling me it can't snow because it's not 32 degrees!!
ReplyDeleteI always learn something when I'm over here!
ReplyDeleteI really, really want to try the whole throwing the water out the window, but i don't want -40 temps...
ReplyDeleteStay warm!
oh my gosh.. I want 3 inches of rain here at 30' temps.. Yes~ bring it on.
ReplyDeleteOh, I loved all the snow and ice facts. Seeing as we are buried in snow and had 27 below the other night, they come in handy :-) Your photos are beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteCould we just do some spring facts! Traci
ReplyDeleteThis was interesting stuff! Sure, I'm ready for Spring, like any day now! But, I'm trying to drink in the beauty of winter as well. Just think how boring it would be to live in a place where the seasons didn't change? :) -Tammy
ReplyDeleteHere's an additional winter fact. Wet hair freezes on one's head while walking from the house to the mailbox on the corner in 20 degree weather!! If I have to chose between winter and summer, I'd take winter!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Great information for all of us to know....I know that you all are tired of snow, but I so wish we could have just a little bit for the kids to play in.....60's here today and lots of sun!
