The Wonders of Candy Corn

Hello Everyone!

It's Tuesday, so it must be time
for some Trivia.

Who likes Candy Corn?
Does it remind you of Halloween?

George Renninger created candy
corn in the 1800's at a Philadelphia
based candy company. It was origin-
ally called "butter cream candies"
or "chicken feed" because corn
is fed to livestock. The candy
boxes used to have a rooster on it.

Candy corn is made from sugar,
corn syrup, confectioners wax,
artificial coloring and binders.

It is primarily found in the United
States and Canada, although
available year round, we see A
LOT of it at Halloween. The
shape mimics the shape of a
kernel of corn but candy corn
is three times bigger than a piece
of candy corn.

I like candy corn BUT I really
like "Indian Corn" which has
the chocolate end an orange
middle and a white tip.

Do you have any candy corn
at your house???

  1. I'm a candy corn fan, too, but I like it so much it's dangerous -- to my waistline -- to keep it in my house. I can eat half a bag without thinking.

  2. Fun facts about candy corn.
Have you ever mixed a bag of candy corn, with a can of salted peanuts? Makes a really delicious Fall snack mix! Tastes like a nut roll candy bar :)

  3. I love the stuff, and have yet to buy a bag this season. It would be gone in one evening. But, Kerin's idea of adding salted peanuts sound dang good!
