Barn Sale and Back
Yesterday we went off
to our favorite Barn Sale
in Oak Grove, MO. We
got a bit of a late start
but we got there and
that is all that matters!
I picked up a new ladder,
a pretty pink apron, a
black trivet, the cutest
little rolling pin, a small
candle holder, two metal
cookie cutters and a
note holder.
As I find homes for these I
will show you what I have
done with them.
Happy Sunday--got lots
to do!

Yummy Fun
Following our Fall theme from
Friday, I have an easy recipe for
you. It is from our friends at
Gooseberry Patch and their
101 Autumn Recipe book.
Cinnamon Toast Balls
12 slices of bread, crusts
removed
1/4 c butter, melted
1 T cinnamon
1 T sugar
Tear each slice in half. Roll
each half into a ball and
place on an ungreased
baking sheet. Drizzle with the
melted butter. Combine the
cinnamon and sugar and
sprinkle over the toast balls.
Bake at 350 degrees for 5 - 7
minutes. If desired, broil
until lightly golden, about 2
minutes. Makes 2 dozen.

Look What's Coming!
One week from tomorrow
FALL begins!!!! This is my
favorite season. I love the
colors, the sights and the
sounds that Fall brings.
I am ready for soups,
stews and all those yummy
comfort foods we enjoy in
the cooler months. I am
excited about cool weather
clothes! Transitional temps
are hard to dress for--don't
you think?
Fall brings out the feeling
of "nesting"---getting our
homes ready for us to
spend time inside. Fun
decor, yummy candles,
blankets and wraps for
those cooler days. Oh,
and don't forget FOOTBALL!!
********************************
Midwest Living asked it's
Facebook fans--"What is
your favorite Fall color?"
45% said they liked Red.
35% said they like Orange.
What is you favorite Fall
color/s? Do you decorate
for the season? Do you
decorate outside?
I am partial to Red but like
all of them too. I do decorate
inside and outside. S0 fun!
Have a super pre-fall
weekend----get out and
have some fun!!!

A Summer Recap
Hope everyone is having
a great holiday weekend!
Labor Day is the unofficial
start to the Fall season so
we will "finish" out the
summer with a recap.
Here we go:
Memorial Day weekend was
spent with family and friends.
Lots of garage saling, fun redos,
befores and afters.
On Father's Day we enjoyed a
cookout with family. Ken's
sister and her family came
up to help celebrate.
I took a friend out to lunch
for her birthday. Lots of fun!
Many, many days of temps at
100 0r above. I think we had
least five heat waves according
to the weather people. It might
as well have been ONE BIG heat
wave!
This little lady--our Great Niece,
turned 2 right before the 4th of
July!! How'd that happen!!! :)
was on vacation the week of
the 4th. We took a tour of the
Harley Davidson plant. Great
fun for the "Easy Rider."
place again this year. Many folks
lined the parade route, including
our friends Dan and Nancy. Yes,
that IS Nancy and I with our 4th
headgear. A tradition. Later that
day, we enjoyed grilled burgers
and other yummies at Dan and
Nancy's house. We passed on
the fireworks due to the heat.
All Star game and Fanfest took
place several days before the
big game. We had so much fun
at Fanfest! If your city plays host
to one make sure you GO!
Since it was so HOT this summer,
I did a lot of reading.
Having dinner with friends also
helped beat the heat.
I celebrated my 3rd blog anniversary
this past summer too.
have made several visits this
summer. It will be open until
the middle of October. This is
a jar of pickled squash. Mr.
Ken loved it! Me--not so much.
You'll remember the salsa
making fun---Hot, Hot, Hot!
I also made several jars of
Refrigerator pickles--some-
thing else the man loves. I
have blackberries in the freezer
to make muffins with in the
fall.
August and the lucky guy had
several celebrations. One being
lunch at a German restaurant in
downtown KC.
and yummy too. This is what the
birthday boy ordered. Two different
kinds of sausages, mashed potatoes,
and red cabbage. It was all great.
Dad's friend. I'm taking the pic.
about a sunflower farm not too
far from our house and of course
I had to see it.
They were a lot droopy from the
heat. But still such a sight!
very good friend of ours came
to town for a visit. I have known
Cindy since elementary school.
We also spent many a Sunday
together in Sunday school.
Above is our guest room--it is
a creamy yellow with blue accents.
I made her a welcome gift, which
you can see on the bed. It was filled
with little goodies for her to enjoy
on her visit here.
we were able to enjoy dinner
out on the deck. I think if she
could have gotten the swing in
her car we would have lost it.
It was BACK to SCHOOL for
me the next day and Cindy was
off on the next leg of her trip.
We had such fun while she
visited us. Mr. Ken gets the
biggest kick out her sense of
humor. She and I had a lot of
laughs too.
Lots of creating and crafting this
summer.
As you know the start of school
has been a little bit of a challenge
due to those changes we have talked
about, BUT I think we are finding
our rhythm.
FINALLY measurable rainfall
thanks in part to the storm Issac.
We had two days of gentle rain-
fall Friday AND Saturday through
the afternoon. A bit of sun peeked
out later in the day.
A well deserverd 3 day weekend to
do what we want to when we want
to. It's been great and to know we
have ONE more day to relax. YEA!
That's it in a nutshell. Thanks for
hanging with me through this post.
