During Labor Day weekend
we went to one of our favorite
places. Powell Gardens, a beauty
of a place is located in Kingsville,
Missouri.
It was the last weekend of the
Nature Connects 2 Exhibit.
Sean Kinney a "Lego Certified
Professional" and "professional
kid" brought his Lego creations
to the gardens for all to see.
For a decade Kinney has been
using Legos and turning them
into works of art. Kinney, who
is inspired by nature creates these
works of art from over 300,000
Legos that range from 6" to 6 ft!
Can you imagine being that
talented??
You should be able to click on the
picture of each descriptive sign to
see how many Leogs it tooke to
make that sculpture.
Are you ready? Here we goooo!
This exhibit was as fascinating
as the first one that was in the
garden two years ago.
My efforts with Legos look
NOTHING like these.
Hope you enjoyed!

The best laid blogging plans
for me have gone out the
window today.
Came home early from school
after fighting with my back all
day. Bending over tiny little
bodies is rough on the ol'
back Then when I got home,
I found out that Mr. Ken was
coming home---worn out from
a bad cold. When it rains it
pours at our house.
Our program will resume
soon.

Good Afternoon and Happy Friday
to Everyone!!
Today is World Smile Day.
The Smiley Face was created in 1963
by Harvey Ball, a commercial artist.
As years passed Mr. Ball became
concerned that his Smiley face
was being used too much, not in
the way he intended it to be used
and it's meaning was getting lost
in the shuffle of life.
So in 1999. out of that concern
came World Smile Day. A day
devoted to Acts of Kindness
and Smiles around the World.
Mr. Ball declared "the first
Friday in October would hence-
forth be "World Smile Day."
Five things that make me Smile
1. My husband
2. Family and Friends
3. Children's laughter
4. Peanut M&M's
5. The cooler Fall weather we
are having
Since we are at the weekend,
let's extend this day through
Sunday and "do one or more
Acts of Kindness and help
someone SMILE!"
While we are doing all this
smiling let's take a pause and
keep in our thoughts those in
Oregon who are affected by the
tragedy there and and all of our
friends on the East coast dealing
with the weather there.

Tomorrow is National Chewing
Gum Day!
Yes, that is a picture of my fave
flavor. It is long lasting AND
blows GREAT bubbles.
According to the NET, humans
have used chewing gum of over
5,000 years.
5,000 year old chewing gum
made of tar bark was found in
Kierikki, Yli, li, Finland. The
tar bark was thought to have
medicinal properties in it.
In 1848, John B. Curtis
developed and sold the first
commercial chewing gum
called "The State of Maine
Pure Spruce Gum."
Today's Top Ten Flavors are:
1. Mint
2. Spearmint
3. Peppermint
4. Berry
5. Citrus
6. Wintergreen
7. Mixed Fruit
8. Cinnamon
9. Watermelon
10. Bubble Gum
There you have it. What's
your favorite flavor???
