B--Our next stop on our tour isBartel Hall --it is also calledthe Convention Center but we ARE on the B's right?Bartle Hall is a largefacility downtown that holds conventions, concerts,business meetings ect. This year it will be the homefor the All Star Fan Fest.Bartle Hall has made it'shome downtown since 1994.Kansas Citians LOVE theirBBQ! We have over 100 restaurants serving allkinds of yummy stuff.In the early 1900's a man by the name ofHenry Peery opened aBBQ restaurant out of atrolley barn. He sold a slabof ribs wrapped in newspaperfor . 25 each!!! Those were thedays.Of the 100 or so BBQ joints intown, each serves a variety offlavors and styles but most usethe slow-smoked method of cooking. Our sauces are tomato based ranging from sweet to spicyto tangy.Kansas City plays host to TheAmerican Royal BBQ contest each year. Thousands come to our fair city each year to compete and taste THE BEST BBQ ! My fair city hosts The Great Lenexa BBQcontest each June, last weekend asa matter of fact. It stinks up thetown pretty good!!!Okay, now I have made myself hungry!C--Now we are off to THECity Market. For morethan 150 years the markethas offered an eclectic mixof dining, shopping, fun andattractions in an open airsetting and open daily.This a popular spot in the summer when all the localsbring their goodies to the market . Most come down tothe market for that reason butthere are a lot of great placesto dine in the evenings andweekends.Just recently a lot of the oldbuildings in the area have beenrestored to lofts and moreare living in that part of down-town now.Are you ready for someretail therapy? Let's go toCrown Center Shops.Home to the Crayola Cafe, A Streetcar Named DesireRestaurant, two theatres,a movie theatre and Hall-mark Cards store. Plus many more shops, cafesand restaurants.
