Christmas Craftn'

Have you made anything for Christmas
this  year?
While "thumbing" through Pinterest I
saw some easy things to make. Now
to find time to make these.

1. Fill a salt shaker with a bit of
faux snow, put a little bottle brush
tree down inside, place lid on the
shaker and tie some baker's string
around the lid.

2. Paint scraps of wood white, put
a face on the front, tie a scarf
around the middle and you have
a Snowman. Make several.

3. Turn a yard stick into a tree
by cutting the stick into pieces
and arrange in a tree (triangle
shape.) Don't forget the trunk.
Glue on the surface of your
choice or tie the sticks together.

4. Paint flower pots to resemble
Santa, Snowman, Elf -add a jingle
collar. Fill with candy and give to
family and friends.

5. Turn old corks into trees by
painting the ends green, glue
into a triangle shape and add
a hanger. Decorate the ends of
several corks, stack most to 5, 4
3, 2, 1 on top of each other and
glue together. Add a trunk.

There you have it. Happy crafting.

Spring Break This and That

So, while I have been on Spring Break
I got a bit crafty.

I wanted some St. Patty's plates but
could not find any so I made my own
from plates from the Dollar Tree.

I just used a Sharpie to write each
saying on the plate. I added gold
dots in the shamrock for some
bling.

For this plate, I found an Irish saying.
I was very pleased with these.

Found this cute garland at JoAnn's.
Thought I could just hang it up but
noooo, I had to string the darn
thing first. Pretty cute huh?

So, if you remember my yarn heart
from Valentine's, this will look
familiar.
I cut out my version of an egg (it
got squished) bought some
variegated yarn in spring colors
and started wrapping it around
my cutout.
I added some eggs for bling and a
ribbon then hung it on the front
door. Cutting out eggs from card-
board is not easy.

~~~~
Here is the Misc. I am so happy
with it.
For those who did not see this on
Facebook, one of the gals that
I work with is beginning to down
size her home and she was giving
away several pieces of furniture.
Yes, I said giving away.
I am the happy recipient of this
little beauty.
Above is a daytime shot. On top I
have a poured sand sculpture from
Arizona and a statue from New Mexico.
The other item is a flower ball that my
Mom gave me years ago.I am not really
sure what it is made from though.
This is a nighttime shot, love the light
on the inside.
On the top shelf I have two tea sets
from my Mom and one from a friend
plus a teacup. I collected them along
time ago but have since stopped.
The second shelf has two figurines
from when Mr. Ken and I got married,
a quartz rock from a vacation and my
"Welcome" house blocks.
The "floor" of the cabinet holds a
picture
of  Mr. Ken's parents, one of us
and one of my Mom.
So happy to have this fun addition to our
living room and to think I got it for FREE!!
Maker Monday
Today we introduce a new series--
On Monday's I will have a post on
something I have crafted, DIYed,
etc.
We will start with this Bangle Watch.
You will need:
One watch face
One kind of bracelet
2 medium O rings
1 charm (optional)
Several small O rings (also optional)
You will need to decide where on the
bracelet you want your watch. I used
Baker's Twine to mark where I wanted
my watch. (See above photo)
I attached an O ring to each side of the
watch and then bracelet.
I then attached the charm to several
small O rings and then attached one
of  the rings to the bracelet--I wanted
mine to dangle. That's it, now you
have a Bangle Watch. I wear mine
with one of my charm bracelets too.
Stop by tomorrow for:
 "Touring Tuesday."
We'll get you caught up on
our trips and any outings we
on.
Do It Yourself
As I was flipping channels this
morning I was intrigued--the crew
from "The Chew" were messing
around with plastic cards.
Do you have earbuds? Are they
a mess or do you have them neatly
tucked away? If they are are driving
you nuts, well I have answer for you.
Take an OLD gift or store card, draw
an "I" on the back.
Cut around the lines.
Punch two holes at the top and
one hole at the bottom then cut
small slits in the holes. Don't go
through the holes though.
Slide your ear pieces in the the
top holes and then wind your
cord around the base, slipping
the end into the bottom hole.
All neat and tidy for your purse
or in my case---carrier for my
Mp3.
Pretty cool huh?
Creative Fun
Picture from Google
Hello friends!
I am coming to you from Google Chrome!
Today we have a little crafty fun--
I saw this cute idea on a craft segment on
the midday news the other day.
Take your old crock pot and make it new
by painting it with chalk paint!
I'm not going to go into the logistics
but if you are interested in doing this
Google it.
I love it, great for parties and
potluck dinners. Gives your
guests an idea of what's inside.
A Little Snowflake Fun
Evening to all!
I saw this cute idea in the
December issue of Better
Homes and Gardens Mag
and decided I need to make
some.
They call them coasters and
the pic shows them as such
but I think they would also
work well with mugs too.
They suggest using a coffee
filter and folding it half, then
in half again keep folding so
that you end up with a long
triangle.
In the pic above I have my
coffee filter pattern, the base
pattern, the base and snow-
flake cut out. I pinned my
snowflake pattern to my felt
and then cut them out.
Here is the finished product.
These are a birthday present
for a friend. I'm going to make
more but make the snowflake
and base a bit smaller.
For me cutting out snowflakes
is fun, I just kept cutting snow-
flakes until I came up with a
design I liked.
*Word of warning--if you make
your own or use their's realize
that the more intricate the more
you have to cut, I made mine
as basic as possible. Even mine
involved a bit of cutting.
Enjoy!
Project Update
Hello-
I hope everyone had a great
holiday weekend!
I have been planning this post
for a bit but haven't gotten to it
till now.
Back in October I picked this cutie
up at a garage sale for 5 bucks, yes
5 bucks! I was told that a neighbor
lady made it. Cool.
This is where it lives --in our
dining room.That is a "boom-
box" all right but it is  THE best
little
machine I have ever had.
Anyway, the Christmas music
will be heard loud and clear. I
made a tassle for the drawer
handle too. Love this table-it is
the perfect size cause the player
used to sit on the floor!
I picked this tray up at an estate
sale. It was damaged and really
not usuable for serving purposes
sooo I bought some chalkboard
paint and painted it...
Got the paint at Wal-Mart.
Took about 6-7 coats to
cover the area and any
boo boos.
After much looking for a holder,
we got it hung up in the living
room!  (Above with flash.)
This one is without flash. Our
walls are really not THAT color.
Very excited to have it hanging up!
The "Hello from Me to You" project
is clicking right along. I recieved a
very cute homemade card from Kerin
at Mill Valley Meadow. More will be
going out this week from me. Some to
the East Coast and the Midwest.
See you in December!
Button Button Who has the Button?
Things to do with Buttons
ID Towels
Sew a different colored button
on a corner of each towel
and  give each person a
specific color.
Make Pretty Magnets
Repurpose vintage or
decorative buttons  from
jackets and sweaters. Glue
a small magnet or flathead
thumbtack to the back of
each, and use them to
hold important items.
Sub for Game Pieces
Have you lost the shoe to
your Monoply game?
Replace it with a button
and carry on.
Pair up Earrings
Push posts through the
holes of a button to keep
pairs together at all times.
Level Furniture
Slip a button under the
shortest leg to make it
stable.
Arrange Flowers
Keep thin stems standing
straight by slipping them
through a button with large
holes. Position the button
under two or more flowers
so thet stay grouped in
the vase.
** Fun Fact
At one time, fancy buttons
indicated social status. Rumor
has it that during his life-
time, King Louis IV  of
France spent over $5 million
(based on today's dollars)
on buttons.
A Bouquet for You
Here is a fun craft for you to do.
I received this rose bouquet for
Valentine's Day from one of my
students. Her Mom made one for
each of us.
These would be great for any
holiday table. For Easter use
pastel cellophane or plastic wrap.
Supplies:
Hershey's Kisses in foils to match
your theme
Florist tape Safe confectioners' glue
Artificial leaves (optional)
Florist wire
Ribbon
Clear cellophane or plastic wrap
Instructions:
1. For each candy rose, spread the
glue on the bottom of one of the
kisses. Firmly press the bottom of
another kiss to it.
2. Insert foil wire into the pointed
end of one of the kisses. Wrap a 4
inch square of cellophane around
the candies, twisting tightly around
the chocolate.
3. Starting at the bottom of a rose,
wrap florist tape around the edges
for the cellophane, continuing down
the full length of wire with tape. Add
leaves, if desired, securing leaves in
place with tape.
4. Tie two or more roses together
with a bow or make small bouquets.
Mine has 6 roses to it.
COMPLETED CRAFT IS FOR
DECORATIVE PURPOSE ONLY AND
CANDY SHOULD NOT BE EATEN.
Have Fun!!
