The Tour of Bunnies

This past Sunday Ken and I went down to the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, MO. During the Easter season the Plaza is transformed into an Easter Wonderland. March 12th was this year's debut of Nicholas and his friends--they are larger than life, standing approx. 7' tall bunnies. They are made from Plaster of Paris. These colorful bunnies line the sidewalks and corners of the Plaza. This tradition began in the 1930's to battle the Depression sales slump. The bunnies started their careers at another JC Nichols development- Crestwood Shops. They moved to the Plaza three years after being on display at the Crestwood Shops where they have been a Springtime tradition.
"Hi, My name is Brian and I am one of the Easter
bunnies here on the Plaza. A nice couple came by
and took my picture and all my friends here.
Continue on and you'll see all of my friends.
Have fun!"
"My name is Kate and that is my friend Melinda,
she dropped by for a visit."
"I'm Lee and I'll be welcoming you to the
Plaza III Restaurant. Yum!"
"Oh, Hi--I'm Ellyn and I'm here with my friend
Ken, he has dropped by to help me decorate my
eggs. He did a great job BUT he is VERY messy.
I guess that's a boy for you." :) :)
We pause on our bunny tour to see one of the many
sculptures that the Plaza features. This one is "Quiet
Talk" showing a quiet moment between Mom and
daughter.
"Amy here and I get to see all sorts of traffic down
here on the Plaza. I've been sooo busy with these
darn eggs that I haven't been able to do any
"SHOPPING!" I don't have much time or I'll be late!"
Here we have Neptune's fountain. It has not been
turned on so you can't see how spectacular it is
when it is flowing.
Kansas City is known for it's fountains and this
would be one of them.
"Hi, My name is Sue and I get to greet the many
people who come to the Cheesecake Factory.
It is over my left shoulder through those gates.
I'd love to eat there, maybe one day.........."
"I'm Peter--original name for a rabbit don't you think?
My friend over there is Ken and I guess that lady with
the camera must be his wife. I heard that they were
down here taking pictures of us.
I'm on the other side of the gates from Sue. I help her
with greeting the people but sometimes she gets sooo
busy chatting, that she forgets to greet everyone.
I tell ya--women!"
"WELL HELLO, My name is Nicholas and I stand
at the corner of JC NICHOLS PKWY and 47th
Street. This is a busy corner due to all the
visitors from the east and the north parts of
town. The things I could tell you that I've seen
from this corner." I hope you enjoyed the tour
and will come see us if you are in the area.
We will be here through April 5th.
Come back Sunday and you'll get to meet one
more of my friends, somehow she got lost today." ~Keep on Dreaming~

Garage Sales are here! Saturday's sale provided me with a fuzzy scarf, two pack- ages of trim (the white one has daisys on it) and three two Easter flags and one St. Pat's Flag to hang out- side. ( I didn't get pictures because they are great big ones)
The next sale was at a church . EVERYTHING was 1/2
OFF! I got this lovely pink tablecloth. It may appear on
the Easter table!
This is two pieces of white linen with a scallop edge. Not
sure what I may do with this. Hum.........
These are two round framed pictures with churches and
lakefronts--they will go on our "church wall." When they
are hung up I'll show them to you.
As you can see Ken is soooo happy with his new
tie holder!
Here we have a wreath purchased solely to be hung
outside. It WILL get a revamp.
I waas sooo excited when I saw this--I have two plates that
I may use in this or I may have to look for a couple. I'll let
you know. :)
You've seen this chair a couple of times recently. It
volunteered to model the blue seat cushion that
I also picked up. Ken also got a big lamp with a bendy
neck that he will use downstairs.
What fun we had!!!!!!

The Latest at Target

Image courtesy of google--
*************************************************
Target one of our favorite store has a new line
that they have debut recently. It is called Liberty
of London. It is an exclusive collaboration for
Liberty and Target.
They have a WIDE and I do mean wide variety of
goodies for Spring. There are teapots, bikes, piggy
banks, picture frames, clothing bags, gardening items
bedding, stationary and much much more.
AND as I was reading my April issue of Country Living,
guess what I saw? An article on florals. Much to my
surprise it featured items from the Liberty line.
The left photo shows fabric from the Liberty line. It
runs for $42.95 per yard! This will not be a purchase
I make anytime soon.
The right photo shows their mug, teapot and canisters.
Left page top row--gloves and planter.
Middle row-planter
*************************************************
When I was in Target recently, I wandered around
checking out everything in the Liberty line. You'll
need some time to locate these things but it's fun to
see all that is in the line.
Some of you have mentioned this on your blogs so
I had to check it out myself and then seeing it in my
magazine was great too!
*************************************************
Thanks to all of you for the lovely comments in regard
to my post from yesterday. It is soo nice to have such
supportive friends! Love you!

W H A T ???????????

This little girl who sits on our deck is asking THIS morning "WHAT SEASON IS IT?" Yes, that is SNOW on her head! You heard me right--I said SNOW. Right now we have round 2 going on. Somewhere between 3-8 inches is what is forecasted for our area. She looks a little perplexed don't you think?

I guess we'll have to pull these out again.

Kinda crazy if you ask me. Oh well...

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

The Wonders of Our Senses

As I was blog hopping the other day I ran across a neat post written by Carrie at cottagecozy. I decided to borrow her idea(with her permission of course.) This is my version----- TASTE......
It is that time of year when these little gems appear. These are from Walgreen's and I like them because have a lot of my fav flavors. YUM! TOUCH...

As I was taking this picture, I could feel the wind on

my hands and face. It was a cool breeze which got

warmer as the day went on.

SIGHT... Today we needed a pair of these...
Because we were the recipients of this...
Which caused this and that...
Smell...
Ken and I stopped in one of our favorite bakeries
today---The Clock Tower Bakery. It is located
in downtown Overland Park, Ks. They sell a wide
variety of YUMMIES. You can see from above
that the Snickerdoodles are HUGE, they have
cupcakes--we bought two Red Velvet ones and
two cinnamon puffs. The SMELLS wafting from
the open kitchen draw you in and before you know
it you're at the counter ordering. They have pizza
too. :) Hearing...
When the wind blew today, the musical notes
of the chimes could be heard all around the
deck.
What were your senses up to today?

Top 'O the Morn'n

St. Partick's Day---March 17th is the day
honoring St. Patrick. He was a missionary
credited for converting the Irish to
Christianity and is also known for
"driving the snakes" (spirits) out of
Ireland.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In America--it's a day of wearing GREEN
and celebrating! The first American
celebration took place in Boston, MA
in 1737.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Items associated with St. Patrick's Day:
Color GREEN-because it is the color of
Spring, Ireland and the Shamrock.
LEPRECHAUN-Irish Fairy (little body)
It is said he make shoes and brogues.
Keep an eye on him (if you find him)
he'll lead you to his treasure--if you
don't, he'll vanish and...
BLARNEY STONE-A stone set in the
wall of Blarney Castle tower in the
village of Blarney. Kissing the stone is
said to give the kisser persuasive
eloquence (Blarney).
SHAMROCK-A member of the clover
family. It is said to have been picked
by St. Patrickto explain the mystery
of the Trinity.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good Luck Signs:
Finding a Four -Leaf Clover
Wearing Green-so you don't get
pinched
Kissing the Blarney Stone
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
St. Patrick's Songs:
When My Irish Eyes Are Smiling
I'm Looking Over A Four Leaf Clover
My Wild Irsh Rose
Also, check out the groups:
Celtic Thunder--first song on my
playlist
Celtic Women
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kansas City loves to celebrate and one of
KC's favorite celebrations is the St.
Patrick's Day Parade! It goes through
the downtown area. Those who are true
Irish and those that are Irish for the day
line the parade route-enjoying the floats,
marching bands, people and animals in
the parade.
Then it's off to the Irish pubs and
restaurants for more celebrating!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For more interesting St. Partick's
fun skiddle daddle over to "Garden
of Daisies" (on my sidebar) she has
had several cool posts about the holiday.
Have Fun!!

The Donald

Ken and I were so excited because
the new season of Celebrity
Apprentice began tonight!
It was a great show with AN
interesting cast of characters!
The Donald was his usual surly self
with his lovely children by his side.
Last year's winner--Joan Rivers
made an appearance this evening
too.
For those not watching, the
women's team lost, so one of them
was fired. Carol Liefer was the first
to go. This season proves to be very
intriguing to say the least.
Check it out for yourself--Sundays.

I NEVER felt like I need to look like Barbie she
was just another doll that I had. Soooo much has
been made of this. I'm not saying that it's not possible
but her figure is Not overly possible in the real world.
I still have most of my Barbie things--they a currently
in storage but they have been well kept. One of my
favorite "Barbie" memories is of my Mom making
little bitty clothes for Barbie and her friends! :)

Head over to "Two Crazy Crafters"--most Wednesdays

interesting!
**************************************************
If you are in the Kansas City area, The Toy and Miniature Museum has a Barbie exhibit until November
