A-Z of Crafts

O--Organization

I'm piggy backing off yesterday's post.
I am going totally off on my own
again today.

Part of being a crafter, sewer, knitter
etc is being organized.

Who or what is the item for?
Holiday, shower, birthday etc.
THEN--
One needs to know what they need for
a particular project.
Do I have these things already?
What do I need to buy?
Is there something special I need for
this project?  Does it need to be ordered?
Timeline to finish the item.
I think you get the picture.

My sewing room isn't just for sewing.
I have organized it into areas.
Crafting
Beading
Sewing
Scrapbooking
I have a chest of drawers that holds all
my craft goodies.
My sewing table is Mr. Ken's old desk.
Which is great because the drawers hold
a lot of sewing stuff.
I have a small caddie holder that holds
my glue guns and glue, staple gun and
staples plus misc stuff.
Eventually I will bring up and old sewing
table which will be a work table then I
won't have to haul stuff I am working on
to the dining room.
I have another chest of drawers (large)
that holds most of my scrapbook goodies
but one drawer has fabric in it because
the drawer is larger than the ones in
my sewing table.
Having my space set up like this helps
me when I am busy making something.
I know which area in the room to go to
find hopefully what I will need for my
project.
Of course I have shelves filled with craft
books and misc items too--ie: fun stuff.

How about you? Do you have a craft
room, sewing room? How do you go
about organizing your things?

P is up tomorrow.

  1. My craft/sewing room is a corner of the basement for now. All of my stuff is in bins. I love organizing stuff. The plan is to make a section of the laundry room my craft desk, so I'm loving the pictures you posted. They are giving me some ideas!

  2. No craft room for me. I only buy lovely crafts that others have done.

    Best,

  3. I'm not much of a craft person, but I am into organizing things. My office has things in their places and I have containers for pencils, filing drawers for papers and a cupboard and display board for knick knacks. Thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday x

    1. Thanks for coming by!

That's a great way to stay organized. Less frustration
      when we are organized.

  4. I have a craft area and closet. It is a work in progress. Organization is a must -- hanging files by cross stitch designer, rings of alphabetical overdyed threads, DMC on bobbins and in numerical order in a 'jammer' box, and fabrics labeled in map chest drawers and/or baskets.

I am really enjoying your a to Z month of crafts, Melinda.

    1. So glad you are enjoying the posts!
Sounds like your things are well organized. When I did
stitching I had a binder with
my patterns in it. Still have it
but haven't used it in years!
