It's Pumpkin Time!

Pumpkins...These are one of my favorite things about Fall. ***The largest pumpkin ever grown weighed 1,140 pounds! ***Pumpkins are 90% water. ***Pumpkin flowers are edible. ***Native Americans flattened strips of pumpkins, dried them and made mats out of them. ***Pumpkins WERE ONCE recommended for removing freckles and curing snake bites. What do you do with the pumpkins you pick??

  1. I feel bad about saying this, but our pumpkins are usually carved and we burn a candle in them for trick or treat....Then we throw them away. I know this is a waste!
so I'll go ahead and take 50 lashes with a wet noodle..
    Great info..
I sure like your ladder with the pumpkin sitting on it..

  2. You and I--lovers of all things fall, including pumpkins! I saw a picture of what must've been a 1600 pound pumpkin in a farming newspaper last week and oh, my. The poor thing. It couldn't stand upright, but lay all slouched out on the ground. (I don't know why I gave it human qualities in my mind, but I felt bad for it.)It looked nothing like the pictures of your perky pumpkins.

  3. There's your stool!!! Very pretty fall decor. I always wanted to buy one of those humongous pumpkins and sit it on my front porch, but have a feeling that come November I would be trying figure out how to throw a huge rotten pumpkin away.

  4. I love the cheerful orange pumpkin too!! I once saw a TV cook make a wonderful roasted pumpkin ... it was filled with meat and other veggies... amazing. I've got to find that recipe and try it!
