Leaving The City For The Country

Yesterday as I was reading blogs, I saw an interesting post on Wild Raspberry--Barn Sale. The post said the sale was going on in the city of Oak Grove, Missouri. So I did a little research, decided we could find it and so this morn- ing we hopped in the Sportage and off we went. From our house, Oak Grove is about 35 miles out. It was a cloudy day but still nice for a drive to the country. The red barn was our indicator that we had arrived.

This beautiful landscape was on the left side of the drive as we

went up the gravel drive.

After exiting the car we walked up the drive to the barn and

saw all these goodies waiting for us to look at! There was a

wide variety of antiques and collectables with a wide variety

of prices. For the most part I thought their prices were pretty

reasonable. the bigger pieces had higher prices of course but

that is to be expected.

This framed marriage certificate was hanging on one of

the walls and it fascinated me. It was hard to read so I

wasn't able to tell what year the couple got married

but I thought it was so fragile looking!

These two pictures show a couple of the "rooms" they had

set up in the barn. Everything was in good shape, clean and

of really nice quality.

This is the kitchen vignette set up . If you look on the shelf

under the cabinet doors--off to your right, you'll see some

little spice containers. (they are above the brown box

behind the lamp) Anyway they came home with us and

have Japan on them. There were three sweet and three

savory shakers. I tried to get Ken to purchase the spoon

that's hanging from the door --- he could eat his cereal

with it but NOOOOOOOOOO! We had a great time and in the next picture you'll see

what we brought home in the Sportage.

Ken got the foot stool for his tired tootsies, I found another

scale I was soo excited. It's a little more "used" but it's

smaller than the one I picked up at the Spinach Fest.

Some of the other things: two little pumpkin trays, a

plate, a large canning jar, my spice shakers, an ink

bottle and my most fav find--the WOODEN BOX.

It has a hinged lid and will hold a lot of loot. (not

sure what loot but...) The box was a bargain at 18.95!

It is in excellent condition.
