Day Three of The Twelve Days....

On the third day of Christmas I got our Christmas cards done! They are "after Christmas" cards this year. Time didn't permit for me to get them out before Christmas. This is my organized mess. My card list is in the notebook at the top right, cards we recieved are right by the notebook, cards to be sent are ready the address book and notepad are waiting for duty.
The organized mess turned into this! Envelopes
addressed and return labels up in the left corner.
Now all I need is stamps.
For the last several years I have taken our cards
and turned them into "gift tags"-- these will be
used on next year's gifts. We use the card fronts
and the inside phrase or picture. Very little
gets thrown away. I think these are more
personal that the generic ones you can buy.
We have those too and they get used .
Of course, photos are saved and the photo cards
are cut so we can save those photos for framing.
Some card fronts are also saved for framing. This
year one of the photos came with a frame that I
saved to be used later.

  1. It is never too late to send Christmas cards! They are always welcome. years ago, when my girls were little, and I had SOOOOO many volunteer duties before christmas, between school and church and homeless shelter work, I used to send out New Year's greeting cards!

Now go buy your stamps! :-)
Glad you got a kick out of Dion and his naughty nibbles. You'd think an almost-11 year old dog would have more sense.... but no. he's as silly a fellow as he was as a puppy!

  2. This chick loves getting Christmas cards after Christmas. It's like getting a surprise present. Last year my DIL sent her family picture cards out in August. They were tagged these are either really, really late or just awesomely early. They had actually been set aside and lost in the Christmas madness and discovered in August.

I'm lovin' your days of Christmas. Have a fun day!!! God bless...

  4. Hi Melinda. I hope you are warm! Frigid here today with wind gusts to 50 mph and wind chills below zero!

My mom has always used last year's cards for tags, too...great minds! Like you, I save the photo cards and most of them find their way into my photo albums. Which reminds me, I'm about six months behind on filling the albums...oops.

Anyway, I hope you're enjoying your time off. We don't go back until next Monday and I couldn't be happier.

  5. I agree, it's not too late to send the cards! People will enjoy hearing from you no matter what day it is. I get a few " January cards" each year and I love them as much as the ones I received before Christmas.
I too like using old cards to make gift tags and fun tree decorations with the kids. One year my sister in law took all her old cards and glued them to a big Christmas tree cardboard form, like crazy quilting. It was so cool.
