Welcome to Touring Tuesday and
Oklahoma in a Severe Thunderstorm.
Back in May we went to see my sister-
in-law and her family for a mini family
reunion, we had traveling companions
for this trip--- Ken's brother Gregg and
his girlfriend Julie.
Now this "thunderstorm" weather was
with us most of the weekend. LOTS and
LOTS storms, rain , wind, flooding etc.
Not the weekend to be visiting let me
just say. Thought we might have build
an ark to get home!
Our refuge from the storm (once we
found it in the driving rain). Welcome
to Country Inn and Suites. Home away
from home. After settling in, we went
back out into the driving rain for dinner
with the rest of the group. I know--not
real bright but we were there to see
our family and we were hungry!
It was decided that since the rain was
going to dampen outside activities that
indoor ones would have to work so on
Saturday we met and headed over to the
National Cowboy and Western Museum.
It is located on Persimmon Hill in north
east Oklahoma City. Sounds stuffy right?
I was surprised and pleased! There is a
lot more to it than it sounds. For instance:
As you walk in the door this magnificent
sculpture greets visitors. This 18 ft tall,
four ton beauty is called "End of the
Trail."
Right outside the window is a beautiful
gazing pond.

you can see this one is John Wayne.
No we did not leave and go to Washington
D.C. this sculpture is by James Earle Fraser's
depiction of Lincoln quietly meditating during
the Civil War.
In the Special Events Center, visitors will
see five truly amazing 18 x 46 feet Triptych
Panoramic Murals.
Painted by Wilson Hurley (1924-2008)
Windows of the West depict five American
Landscapes at sunset.
California Suite
Arizona Suite
New Mexico Suite
Utah Suite
Wyoming Suite
Across the hall from the Special Events
Center was a sculpture of Charlton Heston.

Sorry to say--I am not familiar with this
character.
Now I do know this suit and who wore it.

Brett Maverick's suit from the T.V. series:

So fun to see the actual costume!
We sill stop the tour here and see
more of the museum next Tuesday.

I HAVE BEEN OFFERED THE JOB!!!!
Thank you to everyone who gave
suggestions on this good dilemma
that I have. All were very helpful
and I will be putting them to good
use over the next couple of days.
Ok, so in the last post I did not
reveal the REAL dilemma to this
job prospect--they do not offer
HEALTH INSURANCE due to
being a small center at this time.
Currently as an employee of the
school district I have a health
insurance plan that does not
break the bank each month--if
you get my drift. It would not be
smart to walk away from that.
Looking at my options.
Sooooo, now you see what the
issue is.
Lots to think about!

Good Afternoon!
Lots of thinking has been happening
here and I wished it was as serene as
the picture above!
Maybe you wise folks in blogland can
help a friend with her thoughts.
1. Do I change jobs after 15 years?
An opportunity has been placed in
my hands, something I have wanted
for a long time-but there is a big ? I
won't go into it...but I will say the
big ? goes along with the offer. Last
year was HORRIBLE and I feel that
this opportunity has come at a great
time.
BUT... what to do? Sorry to be so
vague.
2. Mr. Ken has had a HUGE Gout
flare-up with several visits to the Dr.
Lots of projects are on hold now until
we can get Mr. back to being 100 % and
that is so frustrating for both of us.
This particular bout has been harder to
get rid of and my husband is NOT at all
patient when he doesn't feel good. He
IS getting there but it is a very slow
process.
3. What is up in Blogland?
Is blogging going bye bye?
Is it because it is Summer?
Is it because of Facebook
or Pinterest?
I have seen readership go down and
comments too. I have looked at some
of the more "popular" blogs too and
they don't have the comments they
used to. Maybe people are just
popping in and out instead of leaving
comments.
I love to see comments, I enjoy connecting
with everyone that way. Oh well...Thanks
for listening!!
That's what's in my head this week. It's
kinda like that new Pixar movie coming
out with all the characters in your head.

Welcome!
It is Maker Monday.
Today I would like to show
you my "off the street freebie."
Back in March, our neighbor's
(down the street) had this out
on their curb. I spyed it with
my little eye so as we were
leaving later I had Mr. Ken stop
so I could take a gander at it. Got
out, took a quick look and started
hauling it up to our house. Ken
asked if I needed help--"no just
follow me in case I do" I said.
As you can see it is a changing
table but to me it is a "shelving
unit, holder of many things."
Initially I thought I would
paint the whole thing but
changed my mind. It was it
in good shape so I just cleaned
it up.
And painted the shelves. The
top one is pink and the other
two have dots on them. When
I get my sewing room in order
it will go in there.
Mr. Ken will saw one of the bars
off the top shelf. I want the front
of the shelf to be open. I bought
baskets for the bottom shelf --to
hold my junk.
There you have it. Baby changing
table turned into a shelving unit.
Plus it was FREE!!!
