Resolutions--Yuck! :)

Here we are January 4th
and I have not done very
well with one of my "goals"
for the year.
I am NOT a resolution
maker, haven't made them
for years. I was never very
good at keeping them and
then I would get very
frustrated with myself.
What is your status on
resolutions? Do you make
them? Better yet--do you
keep them?
**************************
In a recent study, the top
10 resolutions were:
Spend more time with family
Get fit
Lose weight
Quit smoking
Enjoy life more
Drink less alcohol
Manage debt
Learn something new
Help others
Get organized
**************************
These are great but
studies show that more
than 75% of these will fail.
Due to some being unreal-
istic, too general or not
specific enough.
Now you know why I try for
goals instead--I feel less
pressure on myself to achieve
these. I have also given
myself permission to "do
over" a goal if I boo-boo
one. Which I already have
done several times with one
of my own goals.
**************************
Over at Brainella-Julia is
working on a one word
resolution hers is STRIVE.
Mine is Whimsy. Have
more fun!
If you are having trouble
with resoluions or goals,
try the one word resolution,
it is easy to come up with one
word that you can work with
AND that word would be???
Good Luck!

  1. Last year I saw folks doing the 1-word theme for their new year and thought it was a great idea. I still was intent on creating resolutions though...and failed miserably. Although...not being able to accomplish a 10K is okay when you have a baby instead! HA!

So, I'm getting on board with the 1-word theme this year...and my word is gentle.

    Be gentle with myself.
    Be gentle with my spouse.
    Be gentle with my children.

Life is too short to be harsh!

    Blessings,
    Val

  2. I don't do resolutions...maybe it age or maybe I just got tired of blowin' it. I hit the floor every blessed mornin' askin' God to help me live the best day I can. That way when I blow it (...and we all know we're gonna) I wake up the next mornin' with a clean slate. Aren't ya thrilled that God allows do~overs??? Heeehehehe! He loves us like that! :o)

God bless ya and have a glorious day. I remember this is 'start~over' week in the Special Ed. classroom!

  3. I have never made resolutions but just try to do my best each day at whatever task I am trying to accomplish. It might be just a call to one of my friends or chidren and I just work to focus all my attention on them. Have a blessed New Year.

  4. I don't do the resolution thing, but I like goals and the one word idea- I'm not sure what mine would be. I agree totally with the do over! Each day is full of new mercy!
    Happy New Year!

  5. Not a resolution maker myself...I can tell you for sure that the lose weight thing doesn't work for me. I think it makes me want to eat MORE...
My New word this year would have to be "FOCUS"
I need to focus more on the things that will benefit me and my family...Things like save.
    Have a great week..

  6. I don't make resolutions either. I am not surprised that 75% fail. I also think goals are more realistic.
