Tomorrow is National Chewing Gum Day! Yes, that is a picture of my fave flavor. It is long lasting AND blows GREAT bubbles. According to the NET, humans have used chewing gum of over 5,000 years. 5,000 year old chewing gum made of tar bark was found in Kierikki, Yli, li, Finland. The tar bark was thought to have medicinal properties in it. In 1848, John B. Curtis developed and sold the first commercial chewing gum called "The State of Maine Pure Spruce Gum." Today's Top Ten Flavors are: 1. Mint 2. Spearmint 3. Peppermint 4. Berry 5. Citrus 6. Wintergreen 7. Mixed Fruit 8. Cinnamon 9. Watermelon 10. Bubble Gum There you have it. What's your favorite flavor??? ~Keep on Dreaming~

Hello Everyone~ Since Fall is on our backdoor, I thought I would do a recap of our Summer. We did enjoy our fun adventures for sure! First up was our trip to Oklahoma for fun with the family. This was from the trip to the Cowboy Museum.
Next we were off to Illinois. Our friend's son graduated from high school and is attending the University of Minnesota studying Engineering.
Christopher's Aunt made these. It is a Periodic Table. Nifty idea don't you think?
In July, Mr. Ken took some time off for vacation and we took some day trips... We enjoyed our visit to the library.
Another day we went to a local brewery.
Picked up our tour tickets and off we went.
Some "young" man had a birthday!!!
Which was celebrated many times over. Took another road trip, to see a friend and celebrated the big day again.
This lovely A-frame home was designed by our friend and she lives here, so we were very excited to see it and her too. This trip took us to southwest Missouri, almost to the Arkansas border.
I completed my 50 book challenge!!!!!
One more road trip! We found ourselves in Brookfield, Missouri. They have a Hot Air Balloon Fest every year.
We went with my brother-in-law and his girlfriend but...
Unbeknownst to us and Julie he planned to ask her a very important question! Can you guess what it was????
To say she was surprised was ans under- statement! Thankfully, Gregg clued us in before. I was glad I had the camera with me!!!
It fit!!
She said YES!!!!
The balloons were cool too! Congratulations to my brother-in-law and soon to be sister-in-law!!!! Can't wait to have Julie as an official member of the family. Summer went fast and Fall promises to be full of more fun and ANOTHER road trip! Come back often, I am going to try to post more. So much going on, that it gets hard to post. But I will try harder. ~Keep on Dreaming~

This is a PSA for the Heimlich Maneuver. I would like to ENCOURAGE you to learn this if you do not know how to do it. Last Friday, when I brought kids back to class after lunch one of my coworkers was choking. I asked her if she needed some water and at that time she was able to answer "YES." But then she said "I can't breathe, so I turned her around FAST and did the maneuver on her. I was able to dislodge some of the stuff and then she was able to cough up the rest. You never know when you might need to do this, so find out now if you don't know what to do. ~Keep on Dreaming~

Dryer Sheets... 1. Silence squeaks-- Rub a dryers sheet on your soles especially rubber ones). The residue fro(m the fabric softener will minimize friction and sound. 2. Prevent bug bites-- Tie a Bounce sheet to your lawn chair to ward off those critters that like us so well. Apparently Bounce has the chemicals Linalool and beta- citronellol that repel those critters. I'm not too sure this sounds like stuff I want to dry my clothes with! 3. Calming pets and children-- For pets, rub a non scented sheet over their fur to prvent static from building up during a storm. For children who have an aversion to static--rub a sheet on their their clothes to prevent the build-up of static. We used this procedure with a former student every winter that we had her in class. 4. De-gunk your combs and brushes--By placing a dryer sheet in a bowl of warm water, add brushes and combs and let soak for 30 minutes. The fabric softener will help break up the gunk so that it can be removed with a towel or toothbrush. 5. I use them in my car to keep it smelling fresh. Cheaper than some of the car air fresheners. According to Women's Day Magazine--Dryer sheets were first called "Tumble Puffs" and were invented in the 1960's by a chemist to help his wife with the laundry. I don't recall these being used at home until the late 70's or early 80's. Mom always used the liquid fabric softener. ~Keep on Dreaming~
