The Hottest Day of the Year

What does one do on
THE hottest day of the
year? Well, they stand
in front of a hot grill
and stove. Right??

Guess who did that today?
Yes, Mr. Ken and Melinda.
We were recipients of over
40 large tomatoes this
morning and we had an
abundance of Roma from
our garden, plus we had a
ton of Jalapeno and
Serrano peppers. So we
decided to make salsa and
tomato sauce.

Ken stood in front of the
grill and I stood in front of
the stove. He roasted tomatoes
and peppers and I blanched
tomatoes for the sauce.

In the end, Ken had 1 1/2 jars
of HOT salsa and I got a small
jar of  MILD salsa. He also made a smaller jar for a coworker. I
made enough sauce to almost
fill a gallon baggie.
All in all I think we did pretty
good on this project since it was
not on the agenda today.

Did you make anything special
today?
