Feast Day Dec. 6th.
Tradition holds that children who leave their
shoes by the door Dec 5, wake up to goodies
in their shoes. In honor of generous St.
Nicholas.
Did you know???
His name means "victory of the people," Because
of the many miracles attributed to him, he is
sometimes called Nikolaos the Wonderworker.
Historians believe Nicholas was barely 5 feet
tall and a broken nose.
St. Nicholas is one of the most popular
saints in Eastern Orthodox iconography.
Many Eastern churches display his portrait
along with Mary, Jesus, Peter and Paul.

Your blog looks so festive. Love the look. Wishes for a very happy season.
ReplyDeleteLovely! We celebrated St. Nick for years on his special day! Sadly, not this year, as my kids are older. But we have the memories. I love your Christmas Background!
ReplyDeleteMemories are good. Thank you.
DeleteWhen my kids were in Catholic school, we took up the tradition of St. Nick's day. And often, I would forget until I saw the kids' shoes lined up by our front door, waiting for presents. I would have to scrounge around to find SOMETHING to put in them. I think the kids finally gave up on St. Nick, after getting some pretty sad presents! lol
ReplyDeleteWell you tried.
