Opening Day !!!!

"Take me out to the ballgame,
Take me out to the crowd.
Buy me some peanut and cracker jacks,
I don't care if i ever get back.
We'll root, root, root for the hometeam,
If they don't win, it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes your out,
At the old ballgame."
~~~Jack Norworth---1908
It is Opening Day for the baseball
season!
These are pictures of our beautiful
stadium that the Kansas City Royals
Something New--At Least to Me
Today on the Nate Berkus Show
(which I love), Nate and desingner
friend were discussing party ideas.
As they were talking, old flatware
came up. To dress up the flatwear,
the designer used the item above to
dip the ends of the flatwear in. As
you can see it is called "Plasti Dip."
I had never heard of this but
according to their website, it has
been around for awhile and used
and a variety of things. It comes in
various of colors and forms.
Check out their website--I just
Googled "Plasti Dip." Could be fun
to use if you have something to
transform and I know that my
fellow bloggers can find
SOMETHING to use this on!!!!
Have fun!!!
OK---I've had it! I have tried
three times to edit this post
to get it singled spaced!!
But Nooooooooooooo, it
keeps DOUBLE spacing it!!!
A Keeper
Sunday Savor:
We have a good one
today, so pull up a
chair and relax. Enjoy!
************************
As the recipe says:
Sausage and Egg Muffins
From the Gooseberry Kitchen
*******************************
These will be on our Easter
Brunch buffet this year!
Instead of a dinner type meal
I decided to do a brunch and
these will work perfectly for
this meal!
They also keep well--make a batch
for breakfast or lunches.
*****************************
Now, I did have a slight issue
with this recipe. When filling
the greased muffin cups, it
says to fill them 2/3 full----
I have a typical muffin tin and
if I would have filled them
that way I would of had a mess.
I used my 1/3 Cup and didn't
use all of it.
***Use your discrection when
filling your muffin tin. I think if
you have deep muffin cups this
would work. For easier reading
of the recipe--you can click
on the picture.
A Guest
Today we have a guest at Dreaming: Here's Mr. Ken...
Hello everyone, Melinda has invited
me to give you an update and to
tell you MY good news.
First the update:
Whooohoooo, back in December I
went to the kidney Dr. for a follow-
up and received a clean bill of health!
I was deemed "stone free!" Now we
are in the process of trying to figure
out the cause of the stones. Bummer--
NO MORE POP and hard telling
what else. I am also proud to say
that I have lost a total of almost
50 pounds in this process!!!!
Melinda has a new husband now. :)
***************************************
NOW THE GOOD NEWS...
Melinda hinted several posts ago that
I was offered a job. I accepted this job
March 1st! On March 8th, I was asked
to come visit with the people in HR
regarding benefits. Thought I was
going home after this BUT they put me
to work THAT afternoon! Tomorrow
afternoon I will have completed my
first FULL week AND I get paid too.
Very Cool.
I am working for a neighboring county
government in their IT department.
I am part of a team that runs calls
for the employees that are having
computer issues--all over the
courthouse I am. My new co-workers
are easy to work with and I am
loving every minute of it.
I would like to let EVERYONE know
how much their support, prayers and
thoughts are appreciated.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
THANK YOU! For keeping Melinda
and I sane through this whole process!
Mr. Ken
**********
Hi! It's me-I just wanted to throw my
THANKS in also. Blogging has been
theraputic for me in this tough
situation and I would not wish this
on anyone.
I have met so many wonderful caring
and kind people. All of you have been
a tremendous help! I could go on and
on but I won't. Just know that we
love you and can't say THANKS
enough. Melinda~
The Wearing of the Green
Saint Patrick's Day is an annual
feast day celebrating the patron
saint Patrick the day is named for.
***********************************
It is celebrated each year on March
17th. This is a national holiday in
Ireland. There are 3.8 million people
there. But EVERYONE is Irish on the
17th. There are 33.7 million residents
in the US that claim Irish ancestry.
*************************************
It has become a popular holiday in
the US. People wear green, go to
parades, eat corned beef and cabbage,
Irish Soda Bread and enjoy green beer.
****************************************
It is believed that St. Patrick brought
Christianity to the Irish people and
he is believed to "drive the snakes"
out of Ireland also.
************************************
Irish immigrants began observing
St. Patrick's Day in 1737 in Boston.
************************************
The first parade was held in New
York City in 1766.
************************************
Some symbols of St. Patrick's Day.
The leprechaun, shamrocks, pot of
gold and the color green.
************************************
One tradition of the day is to
"pinch" anyone NOT wearing
GREEN on St. Patrick's Day.
************************************
Cities with the top ten parades:
Chicago, Boston, Wash. DC,
NYC, St Louis, Savannah, GA,
San Fransisco, Philadelphia,
Kansas City and Dublin, OH.
***********************************
There are nine places in the US
that share the name Dublin.
There are four places in the US
that share the name Shamrock.
North Carolina has a city named
Emerald Isle.
***********************************
May the luck of the Irish be
with you this St. Patrick's Day
and don't forget to wear your
GREEN.
Prayers PLEASE!!!!!
We are very sad at our house. You see
we received a phone call yesterday
afternoon from the woman who
is standing in the picture above.
She called to tell us that her son
her son had passed away suddenly!
He is sitting with the cap on in the
picture. (This pic was taken several
years ago. The other woman in the pic
her Mom who she lost in '07.
Kyle was celebrating his birthday when
something went wrong and he passed
away. We don't have any details other
than that the funeral is this Saturday in
Camdenton, MO.
Cindy and I have been friends FOREVER,
we were raised in the same church, went
through school together and spent time
at each others houses due to our Mom's
knowing each other. :) I went to college
and Cindy got married. Kyle was born
a couple of years later. He was
everything Cindy. Cindy's parents retired
to the lake and her marriage had dissolved
so off to the lake she and Kyle went and
they have been there ever since.
As I said earlier Cindy's Mom passed away
in "07 and her Dad several years before
that. This was a very close knit family and
they have been torn apart bit by bit. Being
so far from her is hard especially when she
is going through this kind of thing. Cindy is
tough and she'll get passed this too, but it
will be hard due to the fact that she is now
by herself--she has a bunch of friends but
it's not like having your family around.
Now that I've have rambled on and on, I am
asking for prayers for this woman and her
lost family.
Bloggers are great about passing the prayers
and I know I can count on you for this.
I'll be in and out as I will be getting us ready
to leave town on Friday so we can be in
Camdenton for the funeral service on
Saturday.
Thanks for bearing with me through this
post and the prayers for my friend.
