Easy Peasy

This morning I was trying to figure out what to do with
the 1/2 gallon baggie of leftover ham. We have some in
the freezer and we had eaten some but we weren't
interested in eating anymore for now. You know one
CAN get tired of leftovers, soooooooo I thought well
Mr. Ken loves ham salad--lets make some. How hard
can it be? Right?
Here is my recipe that I came up with.
Melinda's Easy Ham Salad
Leftover ham---chopped in a food processor
Mayo
Relish
Onion
Seasoning of your choice
Mix all ingredients in a bowl and viola you have
ham salad.
I'm just giving you the key ingredients and not
precise measurements because amounts will vary
due to the amount of leftovers you have.
Enjoy!

Birthday Fun

This evening Mr. Ken and I went to a birthday celebration. It was for my friend Nancy--Acorn Cottage. There was cake AND presents!
Told you there were presents. Lots of goodies on that table.
Here is the birthday girl looking at the gifts we gave her.
A pumpkin spice candle and beaded bracelets.
To my surprise there was a gift for ME too. Since the two of
us have November birthdays we usually find time to
celebrate together. In my bag I received a 1000 piece
puzzle, the notecards above, Mike and Ike candies
and Whoppers candies.
How much fun to spend time with friends and enjoy
our birthdays too.

Today we enjoyed a wonderful feast shared with the family made by the family. The picture above shows my centerpiece, the fall angel is ready for her closeup surrounded by fall leaves, candles and an orange vase with a fall arrangement.
With soo many of us, we serve buffet style. For our feast we
enjoyed turkey and ham, mashed potatoes/gravy, stuffing,
salad, corn, bread/rolls, cranberries and a relish platter.
Here are the pilgrims filling their plates full of all the
goodies from the table. It was a feast for the eyes and
the tummies.
After stuffing ourselves with the bounty we all partook
of several desserts. There was pumpkin, cherry, and
"apple pie.". Plus cookies. My sister-in-law made two
of the pies and I made the apple pie. It was from
Rhodes Anytime cinnamon rolls.
It was good to have the family here and to enjoy a
worderful meal with them.
We hope everyone had a wonderful day. Be safe
tomorrow if you are out early!!!

Thanksgiving Traditions

Top Five Thanksgiving Traditions:
1--Turkey and the trimmings--The centerpiece of most
Thanksgiving feasts is the "big bird." My favorite part of
the feasting is the MASHED POTATOES as most of you
know. What's yours?????
2--Football-The first intercollegiate championship
game played in 1876.
The Detriot Lions played their first Thanksgiving
game in 1934.
The Dallas Cowboys played their first Thanksgiving
game in 1966.
3--The Big Parade--The first Thanksgiving parade
was organized by Gimbel's Department Store in
Philidelphia.
The New York Macy's Parade began in 1924. Today
it is seen by over 46 million people on TV or in person.
What is your favorite balloon in the parade?
4--The wish from the wishbone--It is said that
whoever ends up holding the larger piece of the bone
will have their wish come true. The Roman's brought
this tradition with them when they conquered England
and the English colonists carried the tradition to America.
5--Thanksgiving is most commonly celebrated at home
with family and friends. It is also the time to give
thanks for the people around us and the blessings of
the past year. What are you thankful for?
Here in Kansas City THE biggest tradition is the PLAZA
LIGHTING CEREMONY. That is when everybody and their
brother gather on the KC Plaza and wait for the switch to be
flipped. The main stage hosts a variety of schools, entertainers
and guests. A local celeb and children from the audience do
a countdown and the lights fill the Plaza. It is a beautiful site
to see!!! As you can see by the picture above.

Monday Menu

It was cold and damp today, this kind of weather makes me want good ol' comfort food. So tonight Mr. Ken and I enjoyed Tator Tot Casserole and Garlic Bread. It was delish! Tator Tot Casserole 1lb ground beef 1 10.5 oz. can of Cream of Mushroom Soup Seasonings of your taste ** 1 32oz. bag of Tator Tots 1 C milk 1--Brown ground beef and drain. 2--Mix soup and milk together. 3--Layer ingredients starting with the tots, beef then soup mix--continue layering until all ingred- ients are used. Bake in a 425 degree oven till tots are browned and the casserole is bubbly. **I usually season the beef with a no salt seasoning and put parsley in the soup/milk mix. It's your call.
AND this little yummy was for dessert! Ken picked these
up today while he was out and about. It would be impossible
to eat this in one sitting. It is something you nibble on
or you'll be on a great big sugar high. Yum Yum.

Weekend Wackies

We have been working on our yard---back and front forever it seems. I don't think we have EVER had this many leaves. I think they multiplied with ALL the rainwe had this past sprin and summer!!!! Last night under a cloak of darkness -well the deck light was on, we were able locate the deck AND all the furniture! Ken does not play the guitar with the rake! We did have the shovel out because there were sooo many leaves at our curb. More are falling as I type this!!!!!!
Some housecleaning went on yesterday--not much but
room had to be made for Thanksgiving decor.
As I said above the Thanksgiving decor made an
appearance yesterday--this is still a work in
progress. AND Mr. Ken thinks that we should
have the Family over for the holiday! Talk about
sending me into a FRENZY! Now lists have to be
made, a menu needs to put together AND I really
need to clean the house--not the livable clean because
you really live in the house BUT the Family's coming
clean. Ya know?????
And because it is sooooo nice today I thought it would
make a lot of sense to get these badboys up on the
house. Some of our lights burnt out last year and they
were going to be replaced anyway so I went for the Big
ones! For too many years we've been out in the freezing
weather to put up holiday decorations. I'm sure that will
happen again this year BUT the lights will be up already!
We hope you are having a fun and productive weekend!

Musings

First---I want to thank EVERYONE for the lovely
Birthday wishes--they mean a lot to me!!!!
Second---Thanks for the compliments on our
Halloween costumes--they were fun!
Third---Giveaway update. Carrie's package was
sent to her BUT it came back to me because, in my
excitement to get it to her I left off some of her house
numbers. It has been resent and soon you'll get to see
what she got--even though some of the stuff will need
to be saved for next year.
Fourth---I think the leaves multiplied two fold this
year---we have soooooo many. Mr. Ken has been
working non stop over the last two days--I helped
after school today, here's hoping I can get out of
bed tomorrow!
Fifth---When should the radio stations begin
playing Christmas music nonstop? We have two
stations that have already started playing these
wonderful songs nonstop. NOW don't get me
wrong---I love the holiday season but don't you
think this is a little early?
I'm sooooo tired right now, I need to go to bed.
I'll catch up with tomorrow!!! And show you what
I won from Juls!
Happy Friday!

A Birthday Celebration....

I would like to share with you my fun-filled birthday celebration from yesterday! At 9:35 a.m. Sunday I turned 47!!! Goodness gracious. It was a beautiful warm and sunny day-- which in the past 47 years have been few and far between.
I chose to go to Red Lobsterfor my birthday--we went for
lunch and I had the Endless Shrimp Special. There
are five different shrimp entrees to choose from. You
pick two to begin with and then you can oder as you want.
I'm just going to say---YUM, YUM, YUM. I could have sat
there all afternoon and ate shrimp but..... I got sooooo full.
Ken had the Blackened Trout . Everything was delightful!
Can you say cheese biscuits? Love them!! No room in the
tummies for dessert---too bad.
Huuuum, I wonder what could be in this big bag?
Well we have two CD's--Michael Buble--"Crazy Love" and
Ms. Barbra Streisand--"Love is the Answer." Plus a red hoodie and a red sweater (forgot that picture)
How many of you have seen the Progresso soup
commercials lately?? We find them to be very funny.
SOOOOOOO my very creative husband made me my
very own Progresso tin can phone. He got the biggest
kick out of me opening my phone up that he could hardly
contain himself!!!
It's the lighting of the candle. I love Hostess cupcakes so
that is what we had for dessert.
After Mr. Ken sang happy birthday and made a wish, I blew
out the candle and enjoyed my cupcake. Whooooohoooo!!!! Thanks for bearing with me on this post. I had a great day
and wanted to share it with you.
